The School of Christian Studies at Howard Payne University is designed to make the practice of the Christian faith more relevant for our world. The programs serve to train Christian students to be equipped to fulfill the command of Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations and to teach them what He commanded. HPU’s School of Christian Studies is dedicated to helping students understand that the church is God’s minister to His world and to helping them live out their Christian faith as they confront the religious, moral, intellectual, and social decisions of life, both now and later.
Students applying for admission to the School of Christian Studies may also choose to apply for admission to the Guy D. Newman Honors Academy. Providing an innovative approach to the academic program, the Academy enables students to combine specialized majors with coursework grounded in an understanding of the American free enterprise system.
Ministerial Alliance – Students who receive the ministerial scholarship from the Baptist General Convention of Texas actively participate in the Ministerial Alliance (M.A.). The M.A. organization provides ministerial students with a group to strengthen, train, and prepare them as individual ministers. It also helps students build connections which will be beneficial throughout their ministries. Contact the School of Christian Studies for more information.
Appointed — The Appointed organization strives to encourage ministry-driven women by sharing resources and discussing the unique roles of women in ministry. To learn more, e-mail chapter president, Jaci Garrett, at email@example.com/old-hpu-2019 or chapter sponsor, Amy Pitman, at firstname.lastname@example.org/old-hpu-2019.
A number of scholarships, grants, and loans are available through the university’s Office of Financial Aid. Additionally, departmental scholarships are available for HPU students who are already enrolled in their major.
